Teen & Adolescent Gynecology

At About Women, several of our providers take a special interest in meeting the needs of teen and adolescent patients, who can benefit greatly from wellness and prevention programs. In working with our younger patients, About Women clinicians cover topics that are especially important to teens like counseling on the risks of sexual activity, education about abstinence programs, pregnancy prevention, and prevention of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).

We recommend that young women undergo their first gynecologic exam at age 12, when they become sexually active, or when they have questions about contraception or STDs. We welcome referrals from pediatricians who feel that their patients have special needs that require our services.
