Relief at last from heavy periods!
A fast, effective treatment for heavy bleeding (Menorrhagia) in women who do not plan to become pregnant in the future
If heavy bleeding during your period (menorrhagia) is getting in the way of your life, you’re not alone. Heavy periods affect one in five women. But now, relief could be on the way with NovaSure, which dramatically reduces menstrual bleeding in more than 77.7 percent of patients. It’s an effective way to stop the heavy bleeding and get back fully to your life!
What is NovaSure?
NovaSure is a one-time, hormone-free, medication-free procedure that an About Women Ob-Gyn physician can perform in our office in about five minutes. In some cases, it is an alternative for patients who might otherwise elect to have a hysterectomy for relief from the problems that heavy bleeding can cause.
This fast, noninvasive procedure requires no incisions, and most patients experience little or no pain. The procedure, called endometrial ablation, uses heat to stimulate a natural healing process that eliminates the special tissue that lines the uterus. This dramatically reduces menstrual bleeding or stops it completely.
Is NovaSure right for me?
Although NovaSure does not prevent pregnancy per se, women who may want to become pregnant in the future should not have the procedure, because it impairs the ability of the lining of the uterus to support a developing fetus. Sexually active patients will need to use some form of birth control after NovaSure. Based on this and other considerations specific to your personal situation, your About Women Ob-Gyn clinician will work closely with you to ensure that NovaSure is the best approach for you to manage heavy periods.
