Essure®

When You’ve Decided Your Family is Complete

If you’re certain about your intention to not have any more children, Essure permanent birth control could be a convenient option for you.

What is Essure?

Essure is a hormone-free method of contraception that works by placing an implant into the fallopian tubes. The natural healing process then creates a barrier that fully blocks the fallopian tubes to prevent pregnancy.

An About Women Ob-Gyn physician can perform Essure in the comfortable, women-friendly environment of our office. The procedure itself takes about 10 minutes and requires no anesthesia. You can return to your normal activities immediately. Some women even have the procedure done during their lunch hour!

It takes about 90 days (longer in rare cases) for the healing process to completely form the barrier. After a follow-up test to confirm that the barrier is fully formed, you will be able to rely entirely on Essure for birth control and stop using other forms of contraception.
